Calendar Week 49 – Selecting a house and neighborhood

As I mentioned in a previous article, we found our preferred builder and neighborhood, where we would like to build our home. Our options are the woodland home in the wild wood community, or the DR Horton houses in Twin Creek.

Today we drove fist to the wild wood community to talk to their sales agent about a Winfrey and a Kennedy floor plan. We had the opportunity to walk through the almost finished houses of each floor plans we were interested in. Their houses are very nice and use the space quit well, which means they have a good floor plan layout. Furthermore, they have a lot of upgrades you can choose from. However, the one thing we did not like at this neighborhood are the lot sizes, because they are quite small and narrow, so you would not have such a big backyard. As well as the prices of their homes are starting at 330`000 which is out of our budget.

We decided to drive to the Twin Creek neighborhood to check on their houses and their lots. We had a one floor plan in our head which we both like very much, it is the Robinson floor plan. I also choose a potential lot where we would like to build our home, it is a lot at the end of a col de sac and it is the biggest one in the community. Whit that mindset we arrived the community, where the sales agent told us, she had planned to hand in the paperwork today to build on our lot a speck home, guess what floor plan, exactly a Robinson floor plan. That is like a sign for us, luckily, we still could choose the evaluation for the front of the house before she hands the paper in. The second advantage will be they will start building our house a month earlier because we can sign the contract in January. The other options like brick color, flooring and upgrades we can choose later in before we sign the contract, this gives us additional time to think about it. Finally, we could make our decision on our house and the neighborhood.
