Wednesday after work I drove to Nashville to meet Leslie and Mum. They already drove up in the afternoon to spend time together in Nashville. It is one of these short trips we started doing during the week when we both have our days off. Leslie chooses a hotel at the at church street just a few blocks away from the famous Broadway. On Wednesday evening, I went to the hotel and got changed to go out with Leslie and exploring the night life of Nashville. We made several stops at different bar and clubs where we could enjoy life music. Nashville is very famous for country music and are a lot of musicians who play in bars, clubs, and restaurants. We had a good time and had a lot of fun together.
On Thursday morning we enjoyed the hotels breakfast, which was rich on different food, from bacon over bread, muffins, coffee, cereal fresh fruit, and fresh waffles. After breakfast we walked though the city and took some pictures. It was a nice walk, and we got a very good impression about the city center. On the walk we were stopping at different stores to some cowboy boots for Leslie. At lunchtime we took a break at Starbucks where we were planning the afternoon.
We decided to drive to Franklin south of Nashville to visit the Lotz civil war museum. We went for a guided tour where we could learn more about the Lotz family as well as the battle that had taken place, here in Franklin back in 1864. After the tour we decided to have a snack at the restaurant close by before we drove to the Leiper’s Fork Distillery. At the distillery we could jump on a tour the see the brewhouse where they made their whisky. The brewhouse was very impressive and we got a clear understand about the process how to make whiskey. Most of their processes are still by hand, only the bottling machine is automated. After the tour we had the chance to taste three different whisky the produce in the facility. All three were unique and had nice flavorful to taste depending on how long there where aging in the barrel. Unfortunately, it was already time to drive back to Huntsville because we both have to go to work on Friday again. More pictures are here:
