Wednesday evening, I left work around 07:30pm because we had a phone call training, and I could not skip that. We basically learn how to control the phone call when a customer calls for price on tires. My goal was to drive to Tupelo MS this evening to meet Leslie, she had to go to another store for this week. The drive down to Tupelo was very smooth not many cars around. The drive took me almost 2.5 hours until I meet Leslie at work. 1 picked some food and went to the hotel where I was waiting for Leslie to come back to the hotel so we could have late dinner together. After a good sleep, Leslie had to go back to work, whereas 1 could go and explore the city. First, I enjoyed some breakfast in the hotel. After that I drove downtown to the visitor center to get some maps and Ideas what 1 can do in town. 1 collected a bunch of brochures before I made my way to the Elvis Presley.
coming home statue. Tupelo is the birthplace of Elvis Presley. Along the road I stopped at several spots to take pictures from the wall art they have all over the city. It is a nice city with a very established old town. I stopped for at a coffee shop to get a nice ice coffee and to make plans for later today. After my coffee I met a musician on the road who invited me into his studio and played some songs for me he recently recorded. That was a great and unique experience. Around lunch time I drove Elvis Presley birthplace to see where and how he grew up. It was a very special and interesting place to see. close by was the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Park, which I went to. It is a nice park with a beautiful pond and a granite replica memorial wall with names of 58267 KIAs and MIAs of the Vietnam War. It was a very nice day to be outside and explore the area, my next stop was at the Natchez Trace Parkway where I went for a short walk to see a confederate grave site with 7 unknown graves. Back at the hotel I was waiting for Leslie so we could go back to town go have something to eat together. We went downtown to the Amsterdam restaurant where they had as table for us outside, basically on the walkway in front of the restaurant. They also had a karaoke on going, which turned into a big party with a lot of people. Later, we walked to a cigar bar which I encountered in the morning when I checked out the city. We were hanging out at the cigar bar for almost 1.5 hour and had a great chat with some other guests about traveling and cigars. There was also a wine and whisky tasting ongoing which we enjoyed. However, we had to go back to the hotel because I had to be back on Friday at 08:00 am back at the shop in Huntsville. After a short sleep I got up at 5 am to drive back to Huntsville bi be on time at work. Everything went smooth and I was there just in time. Pictures are here:
