Calendar Week 16

On Thursday morning I was going to another EOC store to learn how they run their store in Madison. The goal was to identify way how we can improve our shop at University drive. Unfortunately, I have to do that on my regular days off because we are shorthanded, and they cannot afford it to let me go through regular working hours. In the 5h hours I spend at the store I got a good impression, and I could point out quite well the differences. Furthermore, I learned some trick I can now apply in our store. However, I will return to Madison I a few weeks to learn more.

Around 1pm I drove back home where we all had lunch together. We made some nice chicken salad sandwiches. After that nice lunch we went together for the neighborhood walk to see what is going on around the neighborhood. It was a very nice walk, which we both enjoyed. Later in the afternoon we decided to go to Providence to have an aperitif together. Margaritas and beers we had in mind. First, we stopped at the Mexican restaurant to get our margarita with nachos and salsa sauce. The frozen margarita was alright, not super strong with alcohol. However, we decided to make a stop across the street at mellow mushrooms to get a bier and some cheesy pretzels. The atmosphere was much better at Mellow mushroom and the server was more competent and took good care of our table.

We both thought it would be nice to buy a pizza to go and bring it back to the house, so we do not have to cook, and mum gets a day off from cooking. The pizzas are very delicious, and I can highly recommend trying them. When you are in town.

Sunday

On Sunday morning I wrote for the blog and adjusted and rearranged content on some of my pages from the website. I and Mum have planned to go to the house and garden show in Huntsville at the Von Braun Center, to get some ideas for the house and garden. The exhibit supposed to open at 11am but they changed their opening hours, so we had to wait for one-hour till they opened the doors. However, we got free water and cookies while we were waiting.

The exhibit had several booths from different companies and suppliers as I mentioned earlier for house and garden. There were around 50 exhibitors. I was mainly interested in flooring and power hook up for a generator for our new house as well as for solar panels. unfortunately, there was no company there who sold solar panels. However, I got some estimates for laminate flooring and power hookups for the generator. The exhibit was not super big, so we left around 1:30pm. On the way home we stopped at Aldi to buy some groceries for dinner.

Once we were back home, I continued my online course for about two hours. The topic was about what happened to bond prices if the interest rate changes. I did the lessons on the patio because the weather was very nice to sit outside end enjoy the spring sun. Around 5pm I started preparing dinner for us, Leslie supposes coming home around 6pm from work. I made my famous chili pot, this time I added some bowties at the end, which turned out super delicious. We enjoyed the nice meal together and had some good conversation before we went watching some TV. We continued watching Kim’s convenience. The story is about a Korean family who owns a Korean store in Toronto Canada and are integrating into the Canadian culture.
