Week 25
This week the garage door has been installed as well as the outside power sockets. Furthermore, the laminate has been in the kitchen, foyer, living room, and dining area.
Week 26
In the last several days, all the water tabs have been installed and connected as well as the toilets in the bathrooms. Finally the last kitchen cabinet has arrived and has been installed. Furthermore the fireplace has been finished with stone pieces and stone slabs. On the outside the framing for the driveway has been set up to poor concrete which is scheduled for the end of this week.
Week 27-29
In the last couple of weeks there was not much viable progress on the house. That is why there was not an update earlier. However, in the meanwhile the carpet in the bed rooms was put in and they pored the concrete for the driveway and the AC unit. Furthermore, they started to lay down the grass in the back yard. By the end of this week we will have a walk trough with the builder to address defects and things we don’t like, like dents, painting and all kind of things. After the walk trough they have around seven day to fix what what we discovered on the walk trough before closing in about two weeks.
Week 30
The initial walk trough has been canceled because of issues wit the flooring after flooding the living room due to a lawn irrigation system they set up to water the new lawn they just laid. However, they made some progress in the bathroom where they installed the mirrors. In the kitchen the vent over the stove has been connected to the pipe which goes outside on the top of the roof. The AC part outside has been installed as well and they planted some plants around the entrance. Now we wait until they fixed the floor and hopefully we can go trough the initial walk and then do the closing.
Week 31
While they are working on fixing the floor in the living room, the gas range has been installed and connected to the gas system. Furthermore, the insulation has been installed in the addict to make the house more energy efficient.
Week 32
Finally this week we had our initial walk trough the house with the builder. The house looks very good and they did a good job so far. There are some detail they have to fix, but nothing major. The biggest part is still the missing siding on the front of the house do to supply chain issues, but we hope it will be installed soon.
Week 33
Finally this week the missing siding on the front of the house has been installed, now it looks like a complete house from the outside as well, they mead some progress on the details in the inside. I hope we are able to close on the house in the next few day and then finally move in.
Week 35
We finally closed on the house and we have the keys in our hands for our new house. We are both very exiting and looking forward to bring in our belongings. To move all our furniture, tools and clothes, we rented a U-Haul Truck which worked out for us just perfectly. We where able to move everything in 1 Truckload and therefore we were done quickly.
Week 43
After a few weeks we already started with some minor projects around and in the house. One of the project was to install gutters around the house, the house came only with gutters in the front. On one hand the house looked not really finished and we want to make sure the water flows away from the house to keep our basement dry. On the other this should also help increasing the value of the house in the long run.
