Phase 03 – Pouring the Slab

Week 4

The construction workers started to frame the area where the concrete slab will be built. It’s basically a wooden frame where later on the concrete will be poured into, this will be the foundation for the house. The next step is to install all the piping as well as the electrical cables before the slab can be completed.

Week 5

I discovered a mistake the workers did on the framing for the foundation of the house. They left the area for the patio on the wrong corner of the house empty in the foundation, the patio will not have a solid foundation like the rest of the house. I took some pictures and verified on Monday with the constructor that the patio has to be built on the corner on the other side of the house. The constructor told me they will change the framing before they poor the concrete, no harm done, and I notify him at the right time.

Week 6 & 7

Due to bad weather conditions, like snow and ice there is not much progress on the house and the lot. Although the framing for the slab is now correct. As you can see on picture one and three.

Week 8

Due to bad weather conditions at the beginning of the week, like snow and ice there is not much progress on the house and the lot. However they started to put in the wastewater and freshwater pips, from my understanding it is now ready to poor the concreted as soon as the weather gets better.

Week 9

The wastewater and freshwater pips are no installed, after that the constructor workers will cover them under gravel

Week 10

The gravel layer is now above the wastewater and freshwater pips, there is a layer of black plastic and metal mesh above the plastic. Furthermore there are reinforcement bars around the foundation. Ready to poor the concrete. By the end of the week the modules for the walls and roof arrived.

Week 11

Finally, at the beginning of the week the constructor workers poured the concrete and create the slab, the foundation of the whole house. Furthermore, the rest of the material arrived too. Now the lot looks a bit crowded, by the end of the week they should start framing the walls.
