This week was a very interesting week due to winter weather condition; some people would argue it is related to the climate change, but I do not want to go down that road. However, the weather forecast for this week was ice rain followed by two snowstorms. To me it seems a bit exaggerate, and the snowstorm cannot have a huge impact on my Monday morning.
Guess what, Monday morning when the first wave hit Huntsville, I got a SMS from my manager, he told everybody to come to the shop at 10am. I said Ok, and checked the weather conditions outside, to me I seams to be ok to drive to work, even with summer tires. However, when I prepared myself to go to work, we received another message from the manager, this time he told us we should stay home, the shop is closed, its to dangerous outside. That was alright to me, but I did not understand what “dangerous outside” is. Leslie had to go to work later Monday afternoon, she told me the whole city was dark, most business were closed due to the bad weather.
On Tuesday morning I watched out of the window to see if the there is snow or rain. It was cold and the rain froze overnight. Again, I received a message from the Manager, that the store opens at 10 today. The road conditions where not bad, there were several icy spots on the way to work, but I managed to arrive safely at work. Most business were still closed. The day at work was not busy due to the fact nobody was on the road, the manager decided to close the store at four o clock. It was a very short day at work.
On Wednesday we opened the shop at 9am. Still not super busy at work. For this week I have a bigger engine job to do on a Chrysler Sebring. My job was to replace the cylinder head of the engine due to several cracks. It was a nice task to do because there was not much else going on. Later in the afternoon after the nice dinner, the expected snowstorm hit Huntsville and covered everything in whit snow. It was fantastic, we ran outside and took pictures and videos. It was a magic moment. Even the kittens enjoyed the snow, we let them out for a bit, so they could stick their feet into the white sown.
Surprisingly on Thursday when the roads where still covered in snow, we had to be back at work at 8am. I had to drive carefully with my summer tries, everybody was super slow on the round and it took me much longer to go to wort than usual. However, I arrived safely, and we had plenty of work to, so I was busy at work until my next day off which is Sunday.
On Sunday I got up early to get all the documents together for the Swiss Tax authorities. My Brother received all the necessary documents per mail in Switzerland. He sent me copies of it per mail, the only thing I have to do was creating a PDF file and write a short letter to explain some of the questions they had about my study at LAT last summer.
After I had all documents together, I drove with mum to our lot to see if the construction worker made any progress. They started to install the wastewater and freshwater pips before they will poor the concrete. Later we drove to ALDI and Kroger to get all the ingredients for the Lentils soup for tonight. Back home, I went for a walk and had a long chat with Walti from Switzerland, I have not spoken with him for almost 2 months. We had a lot to tell each other. It was very nice to speak with him and exchanging stories. At home it was already time to prepare dinner, it was my turn tonight.
