Thanksgiving is a big holiday in the U.S. it is a day to celebrate with family which includes a lot of food and of course some alcohol. However, before the party can start, everything has to be prepared, from food over decoration as well as the drinks. This is our first time where we are at home for thanksgiving, it’s also the first time for mum without dad, which is really sad, but he is with us in our thoughts. Leslie was the main chef for the meal, mum was the sou chef, and I was responsible for the turkey carving. Mum and Leslie spend several hours in the kitchen to prepare the food and drinks. My part was important and not too hard to prepare. Before I start carving the turkey, I watched several videos how I have to cut the turkey right and don’t make a big massacre.
Our main course was: Turkey, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, stuffing, cranberries, cloverleaf rolls, green peas. Baked brie.
Followed by pecan pie with whipped cream.
It was a very nice evening together with the family, we enjoyed the moment together, as well as the food and drinks. Next year it will be on us to invite mum to our first thanksgiving in our own house.
