Today we had an appointment at the Swiss embassy in Atlanta. The purpose for the appointment was to bring our original documents to complete the registration as permanent residents in the U.S. In advance I registered myself on the online embassy portal, this means it was basically just delivering the original documents so that the embassy can complete the registration. To be fair, we could mail the documents, but due to Covid19 there is always a delay and some uncertainty. However, it is also a good reason to leave town for a day.
We got up early in the morning so that we can leave at 07:30 am. The drive takes about 4 hours to get there. The drive is very scenic and includes some hilly sections. After one stop we arrived just in time at the embassy, we got the job done in less than 15minutes. Now it is time for lunch. Leslie chooses a Spanish restaurant where we had a delicious meal.
After lunch we drove to the IKEA store which was not too far from the embassy in Atlanta. The main reason for the visit was to find some kitchen utensils as well as an office table. It took us nearly two hours to walk through the store, at least we found what we were looking for. Following visiting IKEA, it was time to drive back to Huntsville, where we ordered a takeout pizza from Mellow Mushroom restaurant, which are the best in town.
