1982 WV Type 2 (Volkswagen Camper Van)
Engine Head overhaul
In 2008 I started my first engine overhaul on a Volkswagen Camper Van at the facility of my former employer. This overhaul was necessary because of an intake valve damage on cylinder three due to overheat of the valve seat. At the time I had a friend who had a engine head machine shop where I could machine the valve seats as well as the valve it self.
Engine overhaul
The overhaul included replacing all the engine gaskets including the piston rings, which was a bit of a challenge because some of the gasket are made out of paper and very fragile. The overhaul went mainly smooth and after a couple of days the van was ready for out first trip to Denmark (here) and later on to a couple of different open air concerts.
